5 Years, and Still So Grateful
It's been five years since I was diagnosed with cancer. (I was 9 at the time of my diagnosis). Five years since I needed IVs, PEG shots, spinal chemotherapy, and five years since I had to learn how to swallow prednisone (it has an awful taste!). There were plenty of days where I would wake up in the hospital, and I wouldn't know where I was. But I was lucky. My cancer is gone, and every time I visit Upstate for my bloodwork I'm one visit farther away from all that.
But there are still too many kids in the hospital fighting for their lives, everyday, as I did. And they need people to fight for them, as so many did for me. This is why I still participate in PBR run, because it helps families and kids who need support, whether that be art supplies to take their mind off of treatment, or money to get services that might not be offered in clinic.
I hope you will get involved, by supporting my fundraising goal, or by coming out to the run.
